The profile is based on the official Jupyter profile Datascience. Therefore, common packages for Python, Julia, and R are already pre-installed. In addition, the profile contains Jupyter AI, a chat-based AI assistant that supports the development of Jupyter Notebooks.
After the profile has been started, a new chat icon appears in the left sidebar. There, the chatbot can be used and the underlying LLM can be configured.

Description

In addition, the profile contains the extension jupyter-collaboration, which enables collaborative development in real-time. The editing of cells and the execution of code is synchronized so that you can ideally work with several people on the same Jupyter notebook.

Manage Members
In order for other users to access the running JupyterLab environment, they must first be added as a member. They can then access the JupyterLab environment via the link provided.

Use via the graphical user interface
After the graphical user interface has been started, a window with status information appears. Once MATLAB has been started, you are automatically redirected to the MATLAB environment.

If you are no longer using MATLAB, please stop MATLAB via the "Status Information" panel. You can open the panel via the tool icon in the navigation bar.

Use via the Jupyter kernel
After the kernel has been started, MATLAB script statements can be executed in the cells of the Jupyter notebook. MATLAB is started during the first execution. This may take a few minutes.
If you are no longer using MATLAB, please stop the JupyterLab instance or the Jupyter kernel (see Available Resources).

Runtime
Currently, MATLAB uses a license server of the KIT, which provides a statewide license. Therefore, no login or registration is required.
Please note that the license expires on March 31, 2026. After this date, we can no longer guarantee that all universities will be able to use MATLAB. If you wish to continue using MATLAB, please contact your university to find out about the current status of the licenses.
