Information on the cost-sharing model
The state service "bwJupyter for teaching" was funded by the Ministry of Science, Research and the Arts (MWK) as part of the dialog process "FZukunftslabor Hochschulen in der digitalen Welt" in the period 01.04.2024 to 31.12.2025. In less than a year, a team from KIT and the University of Stuttgart has now successfully implemented the pilot project: New hardware was procured, targeted adaptations and improvements were implemented based on demand surveys and own extensions were developed.
Funding from the MWK ends at the end of the year. However, the service will continue! In the winter semester 2025/26, all lecturers and students will be able to test bwJupyter again and use it in their teaching. From the summer semester 2026, a cost-sharing model will come into force so that the costs for the bwJupyter service will be borne by participating universities. This will restrict access to bwJupyter to lecturers and students at participating universities. The universities currently participating in the pay-as-you-go model include
- Karlsruhe Institute of Technology,
- University of Heidelberg,
- University of Hohenheim,
- University of Constance,
- University of Mannheim,
- University of Stuttgart,
- University of Tübingen,
- University of Ulm,
- Aalen University,
- Furtwangen University,
- Mannheim University of Applied Sciences,
- Pforzheim University of Applied Sciences,
- Ravensburg-Weingarten University of Applied Sciences.
If you cannot find your university in this list, please inform your university management about your requirements, express your interest and point out the advantages of the new state service.
Please note that bwJupyter can only be used until 31.03.2026 if your university does not confirm your application. Therefore, remember to back up your data.
